    Best Favor Idea:

Twice I have been to a bridal shower where the guest favor was handmade sache of potpourri.

It’s easy to make and something everyone can use — and easy to travel with.

I went to a Bridal Shower and the favor was mini martini shakers with a recipe for a delicious peach-champagne drink. And I now make the drink for friends all the time!

  3. Precillia Says:

At my shower I received a gift of lovely lace underwear with a matching camisole. My nephew was helping me to unwrap gifts. When I unwrapped that one, he said, ‘I can’t wait to see you try that on’. He was six years old at the time!

One nice thing that I have seen made at bridal showers is all of the women coming together to make something nice for the new couple. At one shower, I went to all of the women were sent a quilt square to decorate and send back to the made of honor. The maid of honor took all of the squares and created a blanket keepsake for the couple.

I’ve also seen recipe books created for the new couple when recipe cards (even index cards) are sent out to shower attendees.

I am not a big fan of games at the shower, but I do like the Trivia for the Bride Game to see what the bride knows about the groom.

I like the Household Item Poem and basket full of cleaners that many wedding parties give to their brides. There are 15 items in the poem and each item in the basket is labeled with a number. Then as this poem is read outloud, each cleaning item is held up:

    Dear _______ Bride’s Name,

We gather together with you to celebrate the –1– (dawn) of a new –2–(era). Marriage is a journey. Some days it will be pure –3– (joy) but let’s take a moment and talk about the others.

There may come a time when you realize your big –4– (brawny) guy isn’t Necessarily –5– (Mr. Clean). When this and other little glitches Occur, don’t –6– (shout) or send up an –7– (SOS). Go –8– (easy-on) Him. Hopefully the –9–(Tide) will change quickly, tensions will –10– (vanish), and things will –11– (bounce) back to normal.

We think you and Greg are a –12– (fantastic) couple with a –13–(zest) For life and a sincere appreciation for each other. We fully support you As you and ______ (groom’s name) –14– (pledge) to spend your lives as one.

We wish you all the best… Including love, happiness and lots of time to –15– (snuggle).

    Love,
    The Bridal Party

  5. Clara P Says:

Games are fine, BUT NOT TOO MANY!!! it just takes away from all the good girly conversation that is inevitable at Bridal Showers…..of course, this is just my opinion, oh and ALWAYS serve some sort of alcohol.

  6. Tammy Says:

For my sister’s shower, I made sure we all sat at one large round table so we could all interact with one another. We had a big lazy susan in the center so we could easily reach the food that was served family style. As favors, I gave out a couple of airline-size-approved bottles from Bath and Body Works because most of us had to fly to the left coast for the wedding. A little note said “See you in LA!” It got the guests really excited for the wedding. :-)

  7. Deborah Lee Says:

Often times, waiting for the bride to open to the gifts, can be a long, drawn out process. I think creating games and activities during this part can make this sometimes boring part of the party more exciting. For a friend’s shower, the bride picked the present from the pile and while she opened the present, the person who gave the gift had to share their favorite story about the bride. Another idea is have a timer randomly set while the bride is opening up presents. When the timer goes off, the giver of the gift that is being opened by the bride receives a prize.

  8. Erin Says:

Just last weekend I was a bridesmaid in a dear friends wedding and at the rehersal dinner we carried on a great “singing toast” tradition. All the bridesmaid’s get together, selcet a well-known song (for this bride, who is Irish, it was “Wild Rover”, for another our college fight song, and for another we used “Lean on Her”). Each bridesmaid takes a stanza, keeping the lyrics (and the tune :) recognizable while personalizing it for your friend. Its always a big hit, hilarious, touching, and a lot less frightening than giving a toast alone.

  10. Erin Says:

One shower game/conversation starter that is always funny, touching and good for a multi-generational crowd is to have each of the ladies (or gents) share with the bride their secrets for a successful relationship. Its hard to keep from gushing up when Aunt Edna exlpains how she’s managed to keep her spouse of 50 years interested, or cracking up when the bride’s 10-year old sibling explains her solution for the perfect marriage…multiple spouses! One to wash the dishes, one to take care of the kids, one to mow the lawn…etc.
