Expert Survival Tip: Watch Out Strapless Dress - It’s The Sexy Survival Arm Workout!

Here’s to you looking great in your party dress! Whether you are getting married or attending a wedding, these workout tips from professional trainer (with several bride clients) Thomas Johnson at Clear Cut Fitness will help make your arms look amazing this season. Our featured workout model is Thomas’ bride-in-training client, Jody Much. Jody is getting married in just 6 weeks and she has lost over 35lbs - including 8% body fat - in part from training with Thomas. Without further adieu, here is this week’s Expert Survival Tip from personal trainer, Thomas Johnson:

This is a great exercise that will help to shape the fronts and back of your arms with a beautiful and athletic finish. Keep in mind that this exercise is only a start. To really be able to see the the definition that you will be working towards, cardio is a MUST. Try and do at least three 60-minute sessions of low to high intensity cardio to help to burn calories and increase your metabolic rate (that is, to help burn more body fat). So grab a set of 2lb weights and let’s go!

Bicep Curl to Shoulder Press

1- Start with your palms facing forward,

your legs hip-width apart,

knees slightly bent and your abs tight.

Technique Tip:

This starting position helps protects your back and keeps you in the proper form.

2- Keeping your elbows tight at your side, curl the dumbbells to the front of your shoulder.

Technique Tip:

Your palms should now be facing the front of your shoulders.

3- From this position flair your elbow out into shoulder press position.

Technique Tip:

Now your palms should be facing forward again.

4- From here push the dumbbells over your head.

5- Now reverse the moves, slowly, back to the start.

The Plan

Aim to do 20 reps, then rest for 60-seconds, and repeat. Start off slow and do only what you can do. In total you would want to try and do 3 to 4 sets (that’s 60 to 80 reps) which should take you around 10 minutes. Also, remember to start with a weight set that is comfortable and challenging for you. 2lb weights are just a suggestion. Joy is using a set of 4lb weights in the above-photos.

For best results, aim to do this workout routine 3 times a week. Good luck everyone! -Thomas
